Friday 4PM local time - The Race Committee has just cancelled all racing for the rest of the day, and Mick Butler and Susan Etherington from Australia are our new Hobie 16 World Champions. The pair were duly thrown in the water and showered the sailors on the beach with champagne.

The Venue: Laucala Bay, Suva

Suva, the capital of Fiji, is located on a peninsula so we're almost completely surrounded by water. The north-western bay provides a well sheltered deep water harbour but Laucala (pronounced Lauthala) Bay to the south-east while protected by a barrier reef is open to the trade winds that blow almost year round.
